Where to get cute OCs

There are a thousand and one variations of cute original characters available online, and your final destination as you seek to obtain one will depend on what you plan on using it for.

If you’re searching for cute OCs just for sight seeing, then showcase or portfolio websites where artists put up their work for viewing is all you need. Showcase sites are free to use, so you don’t need any registrations or payments to access them.

If you’re searching for cute OCs for personal or commercial use, then you’ll find what you need on reseller websites or marketplaces where you can commission an artist to make one just for you.

With reseller sites and marketplaces, you’re paying to get your hands on a cute OC, but the art also becomes yours to do as you please when you make that payment.

Showcase or portfolio websites

My favorite showcase and portfolio site for cute original characters is Deviantart. There’s a whole lot of other showcase sites like Artstation, but if cute OC is all you’re searching for, I’m fairly confident you’ll get more than enough on Deviantart.

Deviantart

If this is your first time hearing of Deviantart, well, it’s an online platform that allows all kinds of artists worldwide to display their works.

Think of it as Linkedin, but this time for just artists, and usually, the crop of artists that call Deviantart home are those that tilt more to the side of alternative art.

That’s all to say it’s the perfect place to find the right dose of cute original character artwork.

Specializes in cute anime-type, female original characters. There’s a lot of pink in his work, so this is your guy if you wanted something that fits the traditional definition of cute OC.

TsaoShin’s cute OCs are mostly 3D artworks. They pack in a lotta cutesy and invigorating colors and come highly recommended by me.

Plushpon makes the sickest (read: cutest) digital mascots and icons you’d find anywhere online. It’s mostly kittykat stuff but trust me when I say they’re so cute, they’d melt the heart of Putin if he had the chance to look at them.

Places where you can get cute OC commission services

If you need more than to feast your eyes on the so many excellent cute OC artwork available online, you can commission an artist to make your own personal cute OC commission for you.

With showcase sites, you can’t really download and use any of the cute original characters you find. They’re all protected by copyrights.

If you want a cute OC for personal or commercial use, you need to buy one or get one made for yourself. Several platforms, including places like Artstation and sometimes Deviantart, have cute OC commissions for sale, but since these are not customized to your needs and are sold to other buyers, I’d advise against outrightly buying a cute OC.

Instead, you can commission an original character artist to create a personal cute OC from scratch just for you.

I love how they’re able to inject a bit of fun into the cutesy imagery. Cute is fun, and you can tell with just one viewing of this artist’s work. Knowledge of all that makes an OC cute is pretty solid. They’re good with both cute male and female characters. And their work is also top-tier.

You’ll especially love them if you’re planning on getting a couple OC commission. Their work in the cute couple OC space is just breathtaking and absolutely adorable.

They’re able to recreate the couple’s connection in art, and that’s a big deal. Certainly the artist I’d hire if I wanted a cute OC chibi artwork of me and my fiance.

For the raunchier but still cute OC art Leon, an OC artist from Indonesia, is just what the doctor (read: anime director) ordered. Mastery of NSFW body proportions in a way that’s not overly comical but still dramatic enough to paint the picture is a rare skill this artist possesses.

His NSFW work is absolute genius in how artfully correct it is and how it manages to retain the cutesy vibe we all know and love.

He’s the ultimate go-to guy for cute OCs that look professionally cute with all the NSFW body attributes you’d want packed in.

But what’s impressive is how the NSFW attributes are not so in your face, and that’s cool because with most cute NSFW art work, the NSFW part tends to overshadow the cutesy bits – which is what’s more important to you.

Fair to note that Leon can go hard with the NSFW element anyway if that’s what you want. For me, however, he’s at his best when he’s blending NSFW into a cute OC and not the other way around.
